Typically most Taylor acoustics come with the action too high. The 1st and 6th strings will be uneven in height. Here's an easy way to set the proper action the next time you change strings.

Remove the strings and the tusq gridge(or saddle)
Place the bridge upside down in a vise with exactly the amount of area you want removed, sticking up out of the vise. Get some rough sandpaper and simply sand down till you can't sand off anymore. This will deliver a perfectly straight and smooth edge.

How much to remove?
Measure string height at the 12th fret. It should be EXACTLY equal to the thickness of a quarter. Luthiers used to use the quarter to measure proper string height.
